Technological High School P. Rares Barlad

SCHOOL MISSION
The Technological High School ,, Petru Rares „Barlad aims to create conditions for access to a high quality education for the youth of Barlad area, to train men of character and career professionals in fields required in the labor market in line with the European competitive environment and standards imposed by the requirements of life.
The services offered by our school based on equal opportunities for all participants, training young people as active citizens and supporting adults to lifelong learning in order to enhance quality of life and economic prosperity of the region.

Promoted new education policy aimed at transforming the school unit in a school recognized nationally and European offered organizational climate as a prerequisite for economic and cultural enrichment of the local and national community.
PROFILE OF THE CURRENT SCHOOL

The high school is located in the North-East of Romania, Vaslui county, and serves both the school population in the municipality of Barlad and neighboring localities.
First Quarter Munteni school unit, Barlad, is established since 1860 when the documents referred Boys Primary School no. 3, the former street Podu Ros (current Petru Rares). To this was added in 1882 primary school for girls, both operating in rented premises until 1892 when they built the building that exists today in famous „Spiru Haret” style.
After the First World War faster development of economic activities has increased the share of vocational education, especially by increasing concerns for the girls involved in this form of education. In this regard, at the school no. 3, 1930, is present Housekeeping School, whose program emphasizes practical activities necessary for future graduates.
After 1948, the Romanian education knows changes due to Soviet influence, such as shortening or processing secondary school name in middle school. Thus Primary School no. 3 remain with secondary education, making no school for 7 years. 3, until 1964, the duration of schooling and school name will change again in 8 years Elementary School no. 3.
After 1990, the building will serve primary, secondary and further education (apprenticeship), schooling being carried out during two years (grades IX and X-a), for trades of tailor, milling, baking and helpful waiter.

Since July 1, 1997 the school name was Barlad Apprentices School, and from September 1, 1998 at the premises of Petru Rares 41, Barlad, hosts two educational institutions: School with classes I-VIII no. 3 and Vocational School Barlad. For reasons of rationalizing expenditure in secondary education, from 1 October 2000 under the name the schools decide reunification Vocational School Group Barlad. Considering Law No. 268/2003 and OMECT. 23.09.2003 4966 on September 23, 2003 the school name changes again, becoming „School of Arts and Crafts Barlad.”
From the 2008-2009 school year our school unit is found in the school of MEN titled „High schools of arts and crafts BÂRLAD”, after authorization by the school unit ARACIP on training for level 3 qualification, and since 2010-2011 academic school was renamed TECHNICAL SCHOOL GROUP ,, Petru Rares „BÂRLAD.
Beginning in the 2012-2013 school year, due to the modification and completion of the procedure for awarding the designation of schools by Ministerial Order no. 3283 of 17 February 2012 HIGH SCHOOL TECHNOLOGY title is „Petru Rares” BÂRLAD.
Although located in a continually changing school remained consistent ideals contributing to the modernization and development of vocational and technical education, meeting the needs of socio-economic development of the local community. This causes new concerns and changes to the education, the constant adjustment training areas to the current requirements of the labor market. Thus, Petru Rares High Technology ,, „Barlad provide training in the fields of textile and leather industry, mechanical, economic, trade, tourism and food, aesthetics and human body hygiene, food industry.
In the school year 2011 – 2012, we obtained accreditation for professional qualifications: Technician gastronomy, Technician food and Technician in the textile industry in 2014 was obtained acreditatea for Salon Stylist and that temporary authorization for qualifications: Technician fashion designer, technician trade activities and social sciences.
Unity School is a training center for all ages, which is materialized by conducting training programs for adults. To date it was included a total of over 1,500 adults who completed retraining courses in which more than 60% were integrated into the labor market.
In the 2015-2016 school year are enrolled a total of 1148 students enrolled in a total of 47 classes:
-5 Classes of primary education,
-3 Classes of secondary education,
-4 IX grade school class technology
-1 IX grade social science, reduced frequency,
-8 Vocational classes, class IX;
-4 Technological training school classes,
-1 Social Sciences (low frequency);
-6 Vocational classes, the class X;
-6 Technological high school classes and two classes XI apprenticeships;
-7 XII grade classes to technological high school
At the school level there is a team of competitive teachers composed of: 78 teachers (5 teachers, 63 teachers and 10 foremen), plus 8 auxiliary and 8 employees in the non-teaching sector preoccupied of both the professional development of its own as well as achieving outstanding performance in the preparedness of graduates.
Promotion percentage
‘Promotion throughout schools was 85%, with higher values in vocational education (93%) and lower secondary school (74%).
Regarding the risk of abandonment there is an alarming situation, especially in classes IX and X has. Thus, the high school classes are 17 students coming from repeaters delay and vocational education classes 28 students are repeaters from students procrastinate.

SWOT analysis
Strengths
-equipment produced by the project PHARE TVET 2004-2006 Economic and Social Cohesion component for the development of materials and Rehabilitation;
-participation in POSDRU „informed decisions through the appropriate career guidance” for as many as 60 students in vocational education.
-school is accredited level 3 in the fields of textile and leather industry, tourism and catering and food industry, mechanics, aesthetics and hygiene of the human body and authorized for Level 3 areas: Economic, Trade, Social Sciences.
-well-trained human potential that provides appropriate quality of education;
-school ergonomically appropriate with all permits and licenses to date;
-modular education organization that allows professional mobility;
-a computer science lab that provides education and training of students in the system AEL;
-three computer labs with modern equipment and Internet connection;
-registration unit at the National Agency for Adult Education as a provider of adult vocational training for more jobs;
-protocols with 33 business units that operate our students practical training in a partnership school-trader;
-80% of teaching staff members show willingness to use effective teaching and learning methods;
-teacher-student relationships are consistent with the standards of reform and legislation;
interest of teachers for self-improvement (participation in methodical, enrollment and participation in teacher’s degrees);
-Teachers have concerns adapting teaching methods to the classroom, the learning styles of students stimulating their creativity and inventiveness;
-extracurricular activities committee has developed programs for extracurricular activities (study tours, environmental programs, health education, cultural activities and leisure, sporting competitions at county and inter, social assistance programs;
-90% of teachers have knowledge of computer use;
-good coverage of the school unit through the media;
-particular concern for fair participation in the training on offer;
-interest in initiating a teaching compatible with European education systems;
-concern for accessing funds for retraining through HRD projects;

Weaknesses
-the existence of teachers who do not effectively communicate with students;
-the reluctance shown by some teachers change .;

-insufficient use of teaching materials, information technology and methods of active teaching approach;
-lack of accommodation and meals for students in another locality;
-insufficient diversification of the student training spaces required in order to insert the labor market;
-lack of a gym and sports equipment;
-insufficient space required for all activities within the educational process;
-insufficient involvement of parents in school problem solving;
-Poor participation at the Baccalaureate exam (20%) and low results (38%) in the 2014-2015 school year.
